DuPont and 3M knowingly concealed the serious health risks of so-called ‘forever chemicals’ in their products for decades. These chemicals, also known as PFAS (per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances), can be found in everyday products like clothing, household items, and food packaging.

PFAS are called ‘forever chemicals’ because they never break down in the environment. They were first developed in the 1940s, but it wasn’t until the late 1990s that the public became aware of their dangers. However, according to a new study, DuPont and 3M had preliminary evidence of PFAS toxicity as early as the 1960s and knew broadly about the dangers by 1970.
